my
personal life

Born and raised in Minnesota, I’ve also lived in Arizona, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Oklahoma before returning home in 2012. I live with my husband and our rescue dog Marty. I have one kid away at college and two bonus kids who are out of the nest and living their lives. In summer you can find me paddleboarding, swimming, and hiking, and over the winter I'll be cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and doing hot yoga. I love to travel with my family; two of my favorite places are Saint Martin in the Caribbean and Peru, where I learned how to surf! I also love my life in the Twin Cities, where I can be found dancing at First Avenue and taking in live arts events with family and friends.

my background

My work is grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection, curiosity, and the opportunity to be seen and heard. My approach is shaped by my background in the performing arts, my personal healing journey, and 30 years of experience in creative and people-centered work. Before beginning my career in mental health, I worked in collaborative storytelling, movement, and arts education. In those roles I had the privilege of helping people of all ages find their voices, explore their creativity, and develop a sense of belonging within a community. Seeing students navigate challenge, change, and growth inspired me to shift into my current work as a therapist. I am currently pursuing a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University and hold a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

my specializations

I am deeply interested in your story and where you find yourself on your healing journey. I take a holistic approach to therapy – mindful, embodied, and spiritual – and am very interested in issues including grief and loss, parenting, life transitions, anxiety, blended families, trauma, sexual concerns, and relational stress. I look forward to meeting with individuals, couples, and families from all backgrounds, including those in the helping professions and LGBTQIA+ folks. I use the Gottman Method and Prepare & Enrich for work with couples, and integrate experiential and emotionally focused therapy (EFT) into my approach with families and individuals. My goal is to help clients leverage their strengths and process how coping mechanisms and past hurts may be holding them back today.
